BEHAVIORAL SCIENTIST
ABOUT ME
I am a postdoctoral fellow in the Psychology Department at New York University University in the NYU Motivation Lab, supported by the Social Sciences and Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). Before joining NYU, I earned my PhD in Psychology at McGill University.
RESEARCH
I study the role of motivation in goal striving. My research highlights the importance of understanding how people optimally manage their goals in response to changing opportunities and constraints – core to this is both choosing to engage, and sometimes disengage, for the right reasons.
Some of the topics I am interested in:
1. how individuals optimally "choose" goals that align with their personal values and contribute to well-being.
2. how individuals effectively "lose" goals that are unattainable and no longer serving them.
3. what happens when "goals go wrong" and individuals are confronted with the dilemma of whether to persist or disengage.
